Track 12 – Nostalgia [Retreat Edit] – Imphenzia 1 Track Per Day Release Marathon

Welcome to my complete 1 track per day #Imphenzia release marathon. Every day until I run out of tracks I will release one of my tracks as a free download and write some history behind it.

Track 12, Nostalgia [Retreat Edit], is the first chillout track to be released in this marathon. Back in 2002 I ended up making a relaxed version of Himalaya, I called it a chillout edit but it's not really chillout music - just a relaxing version of the original trance track. The chillout edit of Himalaya was very well received and I got a lot of feedback on in back in the day when mp3.com was a site where independent musicians were releasing their music. Since that edit it's become somewhat of a habit to make relaxed versions of many fast paced electronic tracks I compose. Nostalgia [Retreat Edit] was released 13 March 2011.
Nostalgia is no exception. This super relaxed edit comes in at nearly 8 minutes. Basically, I make a copy in Cubase of my project and I turn down the speed from maybe 130-145 BPM down to 110-120 BPM. I alter the beat and I substitute many of the sounds for smoother and more relaxing sounds. Often it doesn't take very long to make this type of edit yet it creates an entirely new track and I probably enjoy these relaxed version equally to the original versions.
Enough chillout edits were created for me to release a dedicated album that I simply named "Chillout" in 2011 (and it was updated as an extended version in 2013). Nostalgia is one of my better chillout edits so it became the title track of the album:
