Track 5 – Nostalgia – Imphenzia 1 Track Per Day Release Marathon
UPDATE 2014-12-26: This track has been removed from SoundCloud, the marathon tracks are only downloadable for about a week. You can still get it from http://music.imphenzia.com.
Time for the fifth track of my complete 1 track per day #Imphenzia release marathon. Every day until I run out of tracks I will release one of my tracks as a free download and write some history behind it.
If you like my music, if you want to support it, and if you don’t want to wait for the entire marathon to finish – you can download all my music as MP3 and FLAC files from http://music.imphenzia.com for what you think it is worth ($2 – $50) – there are 109 tracks to grab =)
I made “Nostalgia” in January 2011 and again, it was braking some new territory for Imphenzia. It’s an uplifting electronic track, but it’s not trance and to tell you the truth I’ve got no idea what genre it is.
I chose the name Nostalgia because I put some old school demo scene inspired arpeggio (arp) sounds and the lead features portamento (glide) between some notes. The retro inspired arpeggios and note glides are tributes to the demo scene music from the 90s made by so many talented hobby musicians. They inspired me to start making music more than any of the popular “traditional” artists at the time.
The track is melodic with uplifting melodies and a fast paced break beat. The style of beat is especially rare in Imphenzia tracks. A calm break down is introduced at 02:20 with soft pads and a mellow lead but it doesn’t take too long before the fast paced beat returns. With a very slight resemblance to Natural Perception there is also some synths that are running up and down scales in the background, I think that is what adds to the happy atmosphere.
There are 2 alternative versions of Nostalgia that will be released later on. There is a relaxed chill-out edit and a hybrid version with dubstep influences so if you like this one you may want to keep your eyes open for those.
