Track 8 – Princess At The Gate – Imphenzia 1 Track Per Day Release Marathon
Princess At The Gate marked the new start of Imphenzia following a period of 6 year period without any album releases. It was released 17th May 2007 and I had finally settled in a house we bought where I still live today in Nynäshamn in Sweden. I had also just bought my Roland FP-7 88 key keyboard which I still use today.
Princess At The Gate is the 8th track in my 1 track per day #Imphenzia release marathon. Every day until I run out of tracks I will release one of my tracks as a free download and write some history behind it.
I've been making music in my spare time for close to 20 years and 109 tracks, 10 hours of music, is available for download as high quality MP3 and FLAC files from http://music.imphenzia.com – you decide what it’s worth, you can get all 10 hours of music for as little as $2 or choose to support the future of Imphenzia with up to $50 if you have just won the lottery =)
Princess At The Gate sparked new inspiration for me to make more music and another 7 tracks followed in rapid succession so I could release the long awaited album Illusion in 2008. The first signed edition of Illusion went for sale on eBay but I can't remember how far the bidding went, maybe $40 or $50 which was fun.
Coming in at just over 7 minutes Princess At The Gate has a somewhat punchy bass line, atmospheric pads and angelic (and with that I mean airy with plenty of reverb) piano melodies. The chord progressions are different from what I normally make. At 3:45 there is a breakdown that I was extremely pleased with, probably the most favorite breaks of all my tracks produced over the 20 years and it lasts for about a minute. Some time when I listen to this track I forward just to hear that particular break. This release is the 2012 remastered version with a wider range of frequencies, especially in the higher end.
Princess At The Gate became the title track of Illusion since it was the track as was most happy with. Following the making of this track and the release of Illusion was another productive period of 4 years with the release of 4 more albums (Duplicate My Soul, Chillout, I Am Imphenzia, and Piano.)
The name of the track has an actual meaning and real world reference, but that'll remain a mystery for now =)
