Track 9 – Spirit Within You [Piano] – Imphenzia 1 Track Per Day Release Marathon
UPDATE: This track has been removed from SoundCloud - you can still get it from http://music.imphenzia.com.
Spirit Within You [Piano] is the 9th track in my 1 track per day #Imphenzia release marathon. Every day until I run out of tracks I will release one of my tracks as a free download and write some history behind it.
Go ahead - grab all my music, 109 tracks and 10 hours of it, in MP3 and/or FLAC format from http://music.imphenzia.com – you decide what it’s worth!
Since I will be leaving early in the morning for a recording session for www.universalsoundfx.com, I'm releasing the 9th track now at 1:10 AM in case you are wondering why this comes only three hours after track 8.
Spirit Within You comes in 4 versions, the original, a club edit, a chillout edit and this piano version. I composed this piece and recorded it on my Roalnd FP-7 stage piano (although the sound is from the EastWest Quantum Leap Pianos Gold sample library.) This acoustic piano version was released 8th April 2011.
The inspiration for Spirit Within You was my daughter Emilia who is now 3 and a half years old. We were expecting her at the time I was composing all versions of Spirit Within You and the name was chosen as the spirit referred to in the title is hers. I've done this for all three of our children so you'll find out which of the other tracks were made to celebrate the other ones.
Most of the music I make as Imphenzia is purely electronic but I decided not to lock myself into a particular genre. What I like about being totally independent is that I get to choose exactly what type of music I make and how I release it. When the inspiration is there, I like to make piano music and in the end I had enough tracks to release the album "Piano" last year. Piano is the only instrument I know how to play and it is all by ear. I can't read notes, I don't really know much music theory, so I just play whatever comes to mind and whatever I feel sounds right. Probably breaking every theoretical law of music there may be =)
When I make piano music, I start with a small part of the melody that I repeat over and over on the keyboard until I'm happy with the way it sounds. Then I make some sort of a break (I'm sure it has a proper name but my lack of terminology is yet more proof that I haven't studied music =) Wait, maybe it's called a bridge? Hmm. Never mind. In Spirit Within You Piano that break / bridge is introduced at around 01:20. It transposes down and followed by another repeat of the main melody. I finish of the tracks by making a more gentle intro, usually based on the main melody, and a soft ending.
I hope you enjoy the piano tracks even if you are more of a fan of my electronic music.
